  • Despite their similiar names, they are very dinefreft technologies. HyperThreading is from Intel, it basically makes the computer treat your single core processor as a dual core processor. The technology only provided a small performance boost, and is no longer used on Intel’s new Core 2 Duos. The only time to look for it is if you are considering buying a Pentium 4, which are becoming fairly outdated.HyperTransport is used by AMD, it basically is AMDs alternative to Intel’s Front Side Bus. It is used by the processor to communicate with the rest of the system, RAM, PCI Express, etc. It is NOT optional despite what the first guy said, it will come with any AMD processor made within the last several years.
